MEET THE ROOT
A single cultivar.
A world of flavor.
Our farm is dedicated to organic Hawaiian Red turmeric, grown on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

Hawaiian Red.
Our whole focus.
We focus on one cultivar—Hawaiian Red—for our fresh turmeric and planned turmeric powder. That commitment keeps the identity of the crop clear from the farm to the product.
Hawaiian Red is a cultivar of Curcuma longa, the turmeric plant. Its name does not mean that it is native to Hawaiʻi or identical to the traditional Hawaiian ʻōlena. University of Hawaiʻi guidance makes that distinction, and so do we.

Deep color.
A distinctive character.
Our flavor direction is rounded, earthy warmth, rather than bitterness at the center of the dish. Taste is personal, and the amount you use and how you cook it make a difference.
Cultivar, harvest conditions, drying and storage can all affect the ingredient. We distinguish that evidence from claims that every harvest will taste exactly the same.

We believe a thoughtful ingredient deserves thoughtful information. Our journal follows the sources, explains the distinctions, and leaves room for questions.
